I have depicted a fish on an Easter egg because it is the oldest Christian symbol. The Greek word for fish, ΙΧΘΥΣ ("IHTIS"), is short for the Greek phrase "Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior."
Christ was crucified on a wooden cross. Then Christ was taken down from the cross and Risen! Easter is the transition from death to life! It was interesting to make a painting on wood, and the turquoise color of the water reminded me of the sky!
